Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior EHS Advisor to champion the EHS Management System, ensure legal and company compliance, and drive continuous improvement at the Barnard Castle site.

The role provides technical guidance, training and support to managers and employees, leads incident prevention and investigation activities, and advances sustainability initiatives aligning with GSK’s environmental objectives.

Qualifications

• Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Knowledge of environmental management systems, environmental legislation and sustainability principles.
• Experience with environmental compliance assurance, ISO 14001, waste/energy/water initiatives advantageous.
• Ability to influence environmental performance through audits, data analysis and continuous improvement.
• General EHS, Construction, Process Safety, Fire or Occupational Hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance, audits, monitoring and sustainability initiatives; drive reductions in energy, emissions, water and waste.
• Provide practical EHS guidance to managers and employees; act as site SME for assigned EHS topics.
• Support projects, NPI and facility changes; embed EHS considerations throughout lifecycle.
• Manage EHS metrics, adverse event reporting and KPI analysis; identify trends and ensure legal and company reporting.
• Lead and support audits, CAPA programmes, driving compliance and continual improvement.
• Deliver EHS training; promote safety culture and coordinate incidents during site emergencies.
