Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer in Edinburgh to provide hands-on IT support on-site for a secure client environment. You’ll troubleshoot hardware and software, resolve incidents and ensure services run smoothly across the site.

This role emphasizes strong communication, the ability to work independently, and collaboration with IT teams. Eligibility for security clearance is required, and only sole UK nationals who have lived and worked in the UK for the past five years can

Qualifications

• Experience providing IT support in technical/service desk environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of hardware, software, networking and user support concepts.
• Strong communication and customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail in incident logging and processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on on-site IT support to users.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and general IT issues.
• Assist with installation, configuration and maintenance of IT equipment and services.
• Support infrastructure projects, deployments and upgrades at site.
• Monitor systems and respond to incidents to keep services running.
• Keep accurate records of incidents, equipment and activities.
• Follow security requirements and processes when delivering IT support.
• Collaborate with colleagues to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
• Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve user experience.
• Continue developing technical knowledge and stay up to date with technologies.
