Job summary

Automation Experts Ltd. is seeking a hands-on Controls Systems Engineer based at our Gloucestershire facility to own the control and safety systems behind automated machinery and production cells.

You will collaborate with maintenance, production and engineering teams to drive practical improvements. The role is site-based with no regular travel to customer sites, offering autonomy and impact within a small, close-knit team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Control Systems Engineer or in a similar automation engineering role.
• Strong proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens TIA).
• Hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, including SCADA, HMI, and overall control system architecture.
• Solid background in manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLCs and motion systems (Siemens TIA).
• Robot integration and programming (ABB).
• Develop and integrate functional safety systems (light curtains, scanners, safety PLCs).
• Deliver SCADA/HMI solutions with alarms, diagnostics, and data acquisition.
• Lead automation projects from concept to handover.
• Troubleshoot faults and support production and maintenance teams.
