Job summary

Automation Experts in Gloucestershire is seeking a hands-on Controls Systems Engineer to own the control and safety systems behind automated machinery and production cells. You will design, program, and commission PLCs and motion systems, integrate ABB robots, and deliver SCADA/HMI solutions with alarms and diagnostics.

The role offers autonomy, a single-site footprint, and clear project ownership within a close-knit team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Control Systems Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens TIA).
• Hands-on experience with SCADA, HMI and control system architecture.
• Solid background in manufacturing/industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLCs & motion systems (Siemens TIA).
• Robot Integration and Programming (ABB).
• Develop and integrate functional safety systems (light curtains, scanners, safety PLCs).
• Deliver SCADA/HMI solutions with alarms, diagnostics, and data acquisition.
• Lead automation projects from concept to handover.
• Troubleshoot faults, implement upgrades, and support production & maintenance teams.
