Job summary

Avery Park Care Home in Kettering is seeking a warm, capable Maintenance Operative to keep the building and grounds well maintained. You’ll carry out routine maintenance, simple repairs and ensure facilities are fully functional inside and outside the home.

You’ll work across electrical, plumbing, joinery and decorating tasks, support residents with room setups, and participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours service. We value caring, supportive and accountable team members.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in general maintenance or handy person role.
• Hold a full driving licence.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH.
• Flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs (electrical, plumbing, joinery and building tasks inside and outside the Home).
• Support new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
• Ensure routine re-decoration is undertaken to maintain the standards in the home.
• Advise on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
• Provide out of hours emergency service, participating in the on-call rota.
