Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service in Totton is seeking an on-call firefighter to respond to emergencies and engage with the community across a range of incidents. This is a permanent on-call role with minimum 31 hours per week and additional incident payments.

No prior firefighting experience is required as full training is provided; a rapid response to alert and good physical fitness are essential for success in this demanding role.

Qualifications

• You don’t need previous firefighting experience; a comprehensive training programme is provided.
• Must be able to reach the fire station quickly and safely after being alerted to an incident; physical fitness is essential.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a range of emergencies as an on-call firefighter.
• Engage with the community and participate in events and safety visits.
• Attend incidents including fires, flooding, road accidents, and other emergencies; assist with co-responding and safety tasks.
