Job summary

SUEZ in Avonmouth is looking for a Mechanical Technician to keep our Energy Recovery facility running safely and efficiently. This hands-on role suits a mechanically biased professional aiming for a long-term career in sustainable energy and circular economy operations.

You will maintain plant equipment, support colleagues across disciplines, and log work in CMMS, with responsibilities spanning safety, housekeeping, and documentation. A 24-hour callout rota is part of the role.

Qualifications

• Completed engineering apprenticeship with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3.
• Experience in maintenance engineering within a process, steam-raising, or heavy engineering environment.
• Experience working safely in a regulated environment with permit-to-work systems.
• Health and safety qualification such as IOSH; welding and burning experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out high-quality mechanical maintenance across all plant and equipment.
• Supporting colleagues across disciplines and assisting other sites when required.
• Recording work accurately using CMMS.
• Maintaining housekeeping and updating documentation after plant changes.
• Taking part in a paid 24-hour callout rota and attending training when needed.
