Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a Power Control Specialist for a contract role at Barrow-in-Furness in offshore wind. The position supports safe, compliant operation of Generation and Transmission assets from the Power Control Room on a 24/7 rostered shift.

The role requires knowledge of HPPP/PPC/SCS and ability to apply procedures, with responsibilities including HV control activities and coordination with TSO/DNO/OFTO. Initial duration up to Feb 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience in power generation and transmission operations.
• Knowledge of REMIT/OPC/OT monitoring is a plus.
• Ability to operate within 24/7 rostering and defined procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Generation and Transmission Power Control tasks per procedures and escalation routes.
• Support REMIT messages by validating events and escalating as needed.
• Apply specialist knowledge across regions to resolve operational issues within Power Control processes.
• Maintain authorisations for Power Control operations up to 66kV as needed.
• Engage with stakeholders (TSO/DNO/OFTO/O&M) for operational continuity.
