Job summary

Osbit in Riding Mill designs and builds offshore wind engineering systems. As a Mechanical Engineer you own projects from concept to detailed design, collaborating with a live project team to deliver on spec, to budget and in time.

You’ll work on design from first principles, use Autodesk Inventor, perform hand calculations and finite element analysis, and occasionally travel abroad to support customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• A degree-level qualification in a technical field such as Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor software.
• Proficiency in hand calculations, through to Staad and FEA.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative systems from first principles, from concept through to detailed design, maintaining technical excellence.
• Support on schedule delivery by effective management of project deliverables.
• Manage supplier progress, hold regular meetings and provide on-site support.
• Prepare technical documentation and design calculations for peer review, and check third-party documentation.
• Prepare for and carry out testing, commissioning and mobilisation activities.
• Liaise with finance and HSSEQ for support and guidance.
• Share knowledge in working groups and presentations where applicable.
