Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a Marine Safety Advisor to join the Safety, Health and Wellbeing team to deliver specialist marine safety guidance across offshore works. You will support vessel mobilisation and ongoing operations, ensuring compliance with the Safety Management System and strong safety culture.

The role involves working with project teams, contract partners and offshore crews, with travel to ports and sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in offshore construction or marine operations with knowledge of safety requirements and risks.
• Ability to build effective relationships across project, marine and contractor teams to provide clear safety advice.
• NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) plus knowledge of qualitative/quantitative risk assessment in offshore environments.
• Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel. BOSIET and offshore medical certificate are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide marine safety advice to project and marine teams to implement the Safety Management System.
• Engage with contract partners remotely and on worksites to monitor safety performance.
• Develop and review SSEN Transmission and partner documentation for safe vessel mobilisation and offshore operations.
• Attend risk reviews (HAZIDs and HIRAs) providing marine safety expertise to help eliminate or reduce risk.
• Support audits, inspections and investigations; ensure findings are reviewed and closed out.
