Job summary

Academics Ltd. is recruiting for an experienced Office Manager at a welcoming primary school in Chatham. The role supports the Headteacher and SLT, ensuring efficient office operations and smooth administration across the school.

The ideal candidate will lead the admin team, manage admissions/attendance, and coordinate communications with parents and external agencies, while ensuring GDPR compliance and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the school office.
  • Lead and support the administrative team.
  • Oversee pupil admissions and attendance; maintain accurate school records.
  • Manage communications with parents, staff, governors and external agencies.
  • Support finance administration: purchase orders, invoices and budget monitoring.
  • Coordinate meetings, events and administrative processes using the school management system.
  • Produce reports and maintain accurate data for school governance.

Office Manager – Primary School | Chatham

Location: Chatham, Kent
Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time

Academics Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a friendly and welcoming primary school in Chatham for an experienced Office Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and professional individual to join a busy school office and play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school.

As the Office Manager, you will oversee the school’s administrative functions, ensuring efficient office operations while providing support to the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team, staff, parents, and visitors.

The Role
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the school office.
  • Leading and supporting the administrative team.
  • Overseeing pupil admissions, attendance, and maintaining accurate school records.
  • Managing communications with parents, staff, governors, and external agencies.
  • Supporting finance administration, including purchase orders, invoices, and budget monitoring.
  • Ensuring compliance with school policies, safeguarding procedures, and GDPR requirements.
  • Coordinating meetings, school events, and administrative processes.
  • Using school management systems to maintain accurate data and produce reports.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Previous experience as an Office Manager, School Administrator, or Senior Administrator within a school environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience using school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy office environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, GDPR, and school administrative procedures.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
