Swissport UK&I is seeking motivated team members for a Cargo role that blends warehouse and office duties. You will handle air cargo, manage documents, and support reception while adhering to safety and SOPs.

The position offers both warehouse and admin responsibilities with remote interviews and potential in-person meeting with the station manager. The role requires GCSEs, English proficiency, IT literacy, and a full driving licence, plus the ability to lift up to 32kg and work across shifts,

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load and unload air cargo onto vehicles and storage areas.
• Prepare and palletize cargo as required.
• Ensure cargo paperwork is correct.
• Operate relevant equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Follow Dangerous Goods requirements and regulations.
• Deliver cargo to recipients as needed.
• Provide handling of live animals when required.
• Reception duties including greeting clients and visitors.
• Maintain high safety and security standards at all times.
• Carry out basic customs clearance processes and cash invoicing.

Job description

Swissport UK&I are looking for enthusiastic team members to join our Cargo team.

This is a multi-functional role that involves a combination of warehouse and office-based duties. You will spend time working in both environments, so flexibility is essential.

• Handling and moving air cargo within the warehouse.
• Loading and unloading freight safely.
• Completing office-based administrative tasks, including customs documentation, invoicing, and data entry.
• Providing basic reception and customer service support when required.
• Following all company procedures, safety standards, and security requirements.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied working day and is happy to help out with light warehouse duties when required (role is predomibantly office based).

Pay - £26422.50 Yearly and £13.55 Hourly

Interviews will be held remotely on Teams. Afterwards you may be required to meet our station manager in Person at BFS international.

Responsibilities

Day to day you will be responsible for:

• Loading and unloading air cargo onto vehicles and storage area
• Preparing and palletize cargo as needed
• Ensuring paperwork related to the cargo is correct
• Assuring proper handling and delivery of cargo and operation of related equipment
• Following Dangerous Goods Requirements and Regulations
• Delivering air cargo to appropriate recipient if required
• Providing special handling of live animals as required
• Driving and/or operate specialist equipment which may include vans, fork lift trucks, cargo dollies/trailers.
• Offloading trucks.
• Reporting all equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor/manager
• Complying with all relevant legislation and airport authority and carrier security requirements
• Complying with Swissport Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
• Maintaining the highest standards of safety and security at all times
• Basic Customs Clearance Process
• Cash Invoicing
• Acceptance of high value goods such as radioactive goods, live animals or dangerous cargo.
• Reception duties including but not limited to greeting clients and visitors, answering telephone queries, sorting post, filing etc.
• Complying with all relevant legislation as well as airport authority and carrier security requirements
• Complying with Swissport Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
• Operating any necessary machinery
• Additional warehouse duties as required

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need to be or have:

• In possession of at least three GCSE's or equivalent
• Flexible to work a variety of shifts (days, evening, nights, weekends, and public holidays)
• Ability to speak and understand the English language
• Ability to travel to the airport at times where public transport is not available
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Must be IT literate and able to learn airline specific computer systems
• Ability to follow processes and procedures and apply flexible approach when required
• Willingness to work in inclement weather if required
• Able to demonstrate good customer service
• Commitment to continuous improvement
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Able to work in a manual environment and repeatedly lift up to 32kg throughout a shift
• Able to work as a team in a fast paced environment
• A full driving licence
• Previous experience working in an aviation environment desirable
