Job summary

JAS Worldwide Logistics (UK) is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Import Clerk in Manchester. You will manage shipments end‑to‑end from quotation through to final door delivery, coordinating with carriers, customs, and hauliers on a paperless platform.

Ideal candidates bring 4–5 years in Ocean Imports, strong import discipline, and CargoWise proficiency. Air Freight exposure is a bonus, with a hybrid work pattern and room for progression into supervision.

Qualifications

• 4 to 5 years of solid freight forwarding experience specializing in Ocean Imports.
• CargoWise experience is essential as this is the primary system used.
• Previous experience with Air Freight is a plus.
• Strong, dedicated import experience is necessary.
• Hands-on background with sea and ocean freight operations.
• Experience handling shipment costs, margins and regulatory/customs compliance (entries, bills of lading, global trade lanes).

Responsibilities

• Manage full lifecycle Ocean Freight Imports from quotation to delivery: quoting clients, booking with carriers, managing customs entries, arranging haulage, and ensuring final door delivery.
• Handle complete documentation and track milestones on a fully paperless system: creating bills of lading, processing arrival notices, checking compliance, and updating milestones in real time.
• Coordinate with overseas offices, shipping lines, and transport hauliers: troubleshoot port delays, manage demurrage/detention, and negotiate rates or service updates.
• Provide high-level customer service and proactive updates: keep clients informed of cargo status for a seamless experience.

Salary: £34,000 - 35,000 per annum + Benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Normal office hours)

Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days working in the office / 2 days working from home)

Role Overview

• Manage full lifecycle Ocean Freight Imports from quotation to delivery: Quoting clients, booking with carriers, managing customs entries, arranging haulage, and ensuring smooth final door delivery.
• Handle complete documentation and track milestones on a fully paperless system: Creating bills of lading, processing arrival notices, checking compliance, and keeping all milestones updated accurately in real time.
• Coordinate smoothly with overseas offices, shipping lines, and transport hauliers: Troubleshooting any port delays, managing demurrage/detention, and negotiating rates or service updates.
• Provide high-level customer service and proactive updates: Keeping clients fully informed of their cargo status before they even have to ask, ensuring a seamless experience.

Candidate Requirements
