The Met Office invites applications for the Observations Research & Development Industrial Placement 2027 in Exeter. This 12-month Year in Industry placement starts July 2027 and offers exposure to observations data, radar network protection, and data-processing challenges.

The role may support hybrid working, with a minimum weekly office presence. Offered salary is £27,170 with 27.5 days of annual leave and access to discounted shopping.

Qualifications

• Lead criteria: apply geospatial and/or data science tools to analyse datasets and draw conclusions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Python or a similar coding language.
• Interest in environmental data collection and quality assurance.

Responsabilités

• Work with observations scientists, radar specialists and network protection experts to evaluate case studies.
• Apply geospatial, statistical and visualization techniques to diverse datasets.
• Develop knowledge in observations network analysis and tool use.
• Produce regular technical briefings on findings and recommendations.
