Job summary

Asda is seeking an experienced Observability Engineer to join the Cloud Platform Team, focusing on enterprise observability, New Relic and Azure monitoring, automation and engineering standards. You will help teams gain actionable insights and improve reliability across a large Azure estate.

You will build and extend dashboards, alerts and monitoring, work with IaC and collaborate across engineering to raise the bar on observability and incident response in a hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• Experience with New Relic in enterprise production environments.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure Monitor.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and observability tooling.
• Ability to develop dashboards and service health monitoring.
• Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Automation and IaC practices to implement observability at scale.

Asda is looking for an experienced Observability Engineer to join the Cloud Platform Team, helping to improve the reliability, performance and operational visibility of services across one of the UK's largest Azure estates.

This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on enterprise observability, New Relic, Azure monitoring, automation and engineering standards. You'll play a key role in helping teams gain actionable insights into their services, improving operational excellence and supporting the reliability of critical business platforms.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You'll be an experienced observability engineer with strong expertise in New Relic, Azure and modern monitoring practices. You'll be passionate about using telemetry to improve service reliability and performance, with a pragmatic approach to automation, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

You'll be comfortable working with engineering teams across a large enterprise environment, helping translate complex metrics, logs and traces into clear operational insight and meaningful actions.
