Job summary

RSSL, Reading Scientific Services Ltd, is seeking a Nutritional Laboratory Team Leader to manage a high-volume nutritional testing lab in Reading. You will lead a team of scientists, optimize end-to-end workflows, and drive automation while ensuring quality and safety standards.

The role requires strong leadership, project management and extensive knowledge of laboratory operations within a food or similar analytical environment.

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate & mentor a diverse group of scientific staff.
• Experience in Operational Management and budgeting.
• English fluency (written and spoken).
• Knowledge of quality systems (UKAS) in the food industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality customer service and maintain data integrity.
• Oversee lab workflow from sample receipt to report release with automation focus.
• Lead and develop a team of scientists (approx. 5 FTEs).
• Ensure QC and compliance with quality standards in all analyses.
• Collaborate with commercial to identify growth opportunities.
• Manage budget and allocate resources for growth and efficiency.
• Deliver projects on time, with robust reporting and documentation.
