Nurture Teacher
SEND Inclusion Support is looking for a Nurture Teacher in Rainford to deliver personalised education to a pupil who needs an individual approach to learning.
Our Nurture Teachers support children and young people whose needs, circumstances or experiences mean that a mainstream classroom may not currently be the right environment for them.
Through consistent relationships, tailored teaching and achievable goals, we help pupils rebuild confidence and make progress.
You’ll have access to our bespoke Nurture Curriculum, giving you a framework to support meaningful learning while adapting delivery to the individual pupil.
Teaching may take place in the home, community or online, depending on the pupil's needs and the agreed programme.
Your Role You’ll take responsibility for planning and delivering an individualised learning programme that reflects the pupil’s starting point, interests and longer‑term educational goals.
This will involve:
Creating engaging, personalised lessons using our bespoke Nurture Curriculum.
Teaching core skills, including literacy and numeracy, alongside relevant wider learning.
Adapting teaching for pupils with SEND, autism, SEMH needs, anxiety or gaps in learning.
Establishing consistent routines and realistic goals to encourage engagement.
Supporting emotional regulation, confidence and independence through positive relationships.
Monitoring progress and adjusting plans as the pupil develops.
Completing regular reports and communicating with families and relevant professionals.
Helping pupils work towards their next steps in education and, where appropriate, reintegration or progression into further learning.
You’ll be a qualified teacher who can balance educational expectations with an understanding of each pupil’s individual needs.
We’re particularly interested in teachers who:
Hold QTS and have experience teaching pupils with additional needs.
Can plan creatively and adapt lessons when a pupil needs a different route into learning.
Understand the importance of trust, consistency and positive relationships.
Are confident working independently while engaging with the wider support network.
Can recognise and celebrate small steps of progress as well as longer‑term achievements.
Experience in SEND, SEMH, alternative provision, EOTAS or one-to-one teaching is desirable.
Access to our bespoke Nurture Curriculum, providing structure and resources for individualised teaching.
Paid planning time in line with our arrangements.
Ongoing specialist guidance and support from SEND Inclusion Support.
Termly Nurture Teacher Days to share practice, connect with colleagues and develop professionally.
The flexibility to tailor learning to the pupil rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
You can focus on building a positive relationship and helping the pupil progress, with curriculum resources and specialist support available to you.
SEND Inclusion Support is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment and safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check, right to work verification, references and any other checks relevant to the role and setting.
Jobs are provided by the Find a Job Service from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
