Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking an Associate Director of Nursing, Education & Research to provide strategic leadership for nursing education, workforce development, clinical research and professional practice.

You will collaborate with clinical teams, academic partners and senior leaders to drive innovation and embed a culture of continuous improvement, delivering high-quality patient care through education and research.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the non-medical education and research portfolio.
• Assurance of education governance in line with professional body and contractual obligations i.e. NMC, HCPC, NHS education contract and HEIs practice education agreements or apprenticeship requirements
• Liaise with education providers to enhance student experience and UHCW’s reputation
• Act as the nursing lead for education and practice development to ensure high-quality patient care in wards and departments
• Develop policy and strategy for education and non-medical research
• Review provision of nursing and midwifery education across the Trust for multidisciplinary education
• Promote UHCW as world class for non-medical education and research aligned to the Centre for Care excellence
• Lead the development and implementation of non medical education programmes for the Trust
• Lead curriculum development for the Trust with HEI providers
• Lead the Practice Educators and Practice Development Team
• Contribute to workforce planning to reflect organisational requirements
• Maintain standards in non-medical education
• Ensure governance and assurance processes for educational provision (NMC, HCPC, NHSE)
• Support workforce planning and development; collaborate with system partners for new roles (e.g. Advanced Clinical Practitioners)
• Oversee frameworks for education and research; manage non-medical prescribing from funding to practice
• Coordinate training plans based on workforce requirements
• Develop relationships with international education providers for shared learning
• Monitor funding for all education programmes
• Coordinate internal and external reports
• Lead contribution to Centre for Care Excellence and iCAhRE model for non-medical research
• Collaborate with R&D and HEIs to advance non-medical research
