Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Nursing Associate for critical care, contributing to care under indirect supervision of registered nurses. You will provide direct nursing care with training and support and play a key role in monitoring patients with life-threatening conditions.

You will work across site days, nights and weekends, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care from admission to discharge and mentoring learners as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Post-registration experience in acute care settings (medicine, surgery or equivalent).
  • Excellent presentational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others.
  • Understanding of nursing associate role within a team and organisation for service development.
  • Willingness to elevate to senior staff when needed and identify own competency limits.
  • Committed to CPD and mandatory training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in critical care.

Job description

The Critical Care Nursing Associate will be responsible for monitoring and contributing to the care of critically ill patients under the indirect supervision of registered nurses. With training and support, you will provide both general and specialised direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols. You will play a vital role in monitoring and managing patients with life-threatening conditions. Your main duties will include: - - Providing high-quality nursing care to patients admitted to critical care and offering support to their loved ones, ensuring safe and effective practice - Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to provide continuous care to a specific group of patients from admission to discharge - Supervising and mentoring other staff members and learners as appropriate - Maintaining and developing your personal skills with ongoing support Additional working pattern details: Working internally across site, including days, nights and weekends

  • Post registration experience in an acute care setting within medicine, surgery or equivalent
  • Experience of managing acutely ill patients in a ward setting, Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate

  • Demonstrates knowledge of when to seek advice and elevate to the appropriate professional for support and advice
  • Able to identify limitations of own competency and undertake Continuous Professional Development to maintain competencies and skills including all mandatory training.
