Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting for Nursery Practitioners to support early years settings in and around Dereham. These flexible opportunities suit practitioners who want variety and to make a positive impact across nurseries.

You will assist with planning, care and wellbeing of children aged 0–5, ensuring safe, nurturing, and engaging environments where children can learn through play and exploration. Experience in nursery settings and a solid EYFS understanding are preferred.

Responsibilities

Nursery Practitioner – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately

These flexible opportunities are ideal for Nursery Practitioners who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different early years settings. You will be supporting young children in Dereham and the surrounding areas, helping to create safe, nurturing, and engaging environments where children can learn, play, and develop confidently.


Duties as Nursery Practitioner:


  • Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS framework

  • Assist with the care, supervision, and well-being of children aged 0–5

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and early learning development

  • Contribute to observations and learning records when required

  • Support children with personal care routines where appropriate

  • Work collaboratively with early years practitioners and nursery staff

  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote children’s welfare at all times


Ideal Nursery Practitioner:


  • Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting

  • Understanding of the EYFS framework and early child development
