Job summary

YMCA North Tyneside in North Shields is seeking a Nursery Practitioner on a fixed-term maternity cover basis. The role involves delivering high-quality early years care across nursery rooms, supporting planning, and working with families to support child development.

You will hold a Level 3 childcare qualification, have EYFS/Ofsted understanding, and be skilled in leading activities with a collaborative approach. A current first-aid certificate is required.

Qualifications

• Level 3 childcare qualification required (NNEB, BTEC, NVQ, CACHE or similar).
• Clear understanding of EYFS and Ofsted standards.
• Ability to plan, implement and evaluate age-appropriate activities with teamwork.
• Current first-aid qualification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high standard of childcare and early education across nursery rooms.
• Support room lead with planning and delivery of activities.
• Listen to children, value their views and treat each child as an individual.
• Collaborate with parents and families to share information on well-being and development.
