Job summary

Your Care Jobs Ltd in Lewes is seeking a maternity cover nursery manager to lead day-to-day operations, keep a safe and stimulating environment for children under five, and support deputy and room leaders.

The role focuses on ensuring Ofsted readiness, curriculum delivery, staff recruitment and safeguarding, with a 40-hour week and responsibilities overseen by the Director.

This temporary post offers continuity of care while the setting maintains high standards and smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading a nursery team and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Ability to prepare settings for Ofsted inspections.
• Strong administrative and enrolment enquiry handling.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with deputy and room leaders to run day-to-day nursery operations.
• Prepare nursery for Ofsted inspections and implement inspector recommendations.
• Handle enrolment enquiries, payments, policies, and maintenance planning.
• Develop and implement an age-appropriate curriculum with annual events.
• Lead recruitment, induction, and staff retention.
• Share safeguarding responsibilities and promote children's welfare.
• Supervise nursery staff and provide support to the team.
• Undertake other tasks delegated by the Director.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Work closely with your deputy and room leaders to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery, providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children under 5.
• Prepare the nursery for Ofsted inspections and follow inspector recommendations.
• Complete administrative tasks e.g. Answer enquiries about enrolment, payments, and nursery practices; Annually update policies and procedures; organising maintenance lists, repair quotes, and purchasing new items as required etc.
• Develop and implement an age-appropriate curriculum, including annual events and activities.
• Lead the recruitment, selection, induction, and retention of staff in a cost-effective and timely manner.
• Share responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
• Manage, supervise, and support the nursery staff team.
• Undertake any other reasonable tasks delegated by the Director in accordance with the setting's aims and objectives
