Job description

We are looking for a strong nursery manager to lead our nursery based in Bromborough. We are offering excellent rates of pay along with further career opportunities. The role is for 40 hours per week over 52 weeks a year. Main duties include:

Responsibilities
  • Planning, preparing and delivering quality teaching opportunities using the EYFS framework effectively, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation within a safe and caring environment.
  • Support practitioners with their key children, liaising closely with parents/carers maintaining strong partnerships and communication ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members).
  • Ensure continuity of all paperwork in accordance with S4YC Early Years settings formats. Complete administration and record keeping, including financial records, ordering and purchasing, working within an agreed budget supported by the Deputy Manager and Compliance Manager.
  • Support parents and staff with the companies IPAL system.
  • To monitor completed cohort tracking on children's development within the setting to establish gaps in learning and support staff with planning for next steps.
  • To moderate staff observations on children, individual tracking and planning.
  • To meet all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage and subsequently any legal documents referred to within the EYFS framework.
  • To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories. Familiarising yourself with relevant play and learning intervention plans that are in place.
  • To advise Compliance manager of any concerns, e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
  • To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
  • To meet the expectations set out in both government guidance and legislation, as safeguarding lead, developing the skills and competences that are effective in their role and not just compliant.
  • To have a good understanding and sound knowledge of what risks may present to children and how this may be manifested.
  • To underpin the implementation of policies and procedures with clarity and good communication systems so that everyone, including staff, parents and children, can engage in processes that safeguard and protect all children.
  • Help and support staff to learn to become competent practitioners by helping them to identify abuse and neglect by encouraging them to respond appropriately as soon as concerns arise.
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • Ensure that hygiene, health and safety standards are met, Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment at all times.
  • Lead, supervise, observe and monitor staff within the Early Years setting on a daily basis, providing support and modelling good Early Years practice to staff.
  • Report any concerns for disciplinary issues with the support from senior management.
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team, building team spirit and ensuring that each member of staff feels valued and included.
  • Undertake appropriate and relevant training.
  • To organise and be involved in staff meetings on a regular basis.
  • To read, understand and adhere to all of the company's policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
  • To induct, supervise and contribute to performance management of staff, contributing to Learning Development Plans for individual staff according to policies and procedures.
  • To undertake peer observations on staff within the setting and feedback into supervision meetings.
  • To arrange supervision meetings with your staff every 6 to 8 weeks.
  • To actively promote the Early Years setting to ensure that vacant places are filled, and that services are marketed and advertised so that the Early Years setting runs to full capacity.
  • Work with CWAC to attend Advisory Board meeting updates and Nursery Action Plan meetings if placed in a Children's Centre Nursery.
  • Communicate with Early Years Consultants on practice within S4YC settings using their guidance to improve and maintain good practice within each Preschool / Nursery.
