Trilakes Nursery in Bracknell is seeking a friendly Lunchtime Assistant to join our team for 20 hours per week (10:30am – 2:30pm, Monday–Friday). You’ll help children during meals, support routines, and contribute to a calm mealtime environment.

Responsibilities

• Lunchtime Supervision: support meals, encourage good table manners and a calm mealtime environment.

• Health, Hygiene & Safety: assist with personal care, keep environments clean and report incidents.
• Team & Development: collaborate with the team, attend training and meetings, promote nursery values.

Salary: Up to £13.01 per hour

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a friendly, caring Lunchtime Assistant to support our team during one of the most important parts of the day — mealtimes and transitions.

This isn’t just “supervision”.

You’ll be responsible for:

Lunchtime Supervision

• Supporting children during meals and encouraging good table manners
• Creating a calm, positive, and engaging mealtime environment
• Helping children feel comfortable and confident during lunch
• Supporting children with allergies safely and correctly
• Assisting with feeding, weaning, or bottles where needed
• Ensuring smooth transitions between lunch and the next activity

Childcare Support

• Delivering safe, meaningful activities while practitioners are on breaks
• Supporting children with routines and transitions
• Encouraging independence (handwashing, self-feeding, dressing)
• Providing comfort and reassurance where needed
• Sharing any concerns with the team

Health, Hygiene & Safety

• Supporting personal care routines before and after meals
• Keeping environments clean, safe, and organised
• Following all health & safety and allergy procedures
• Reporting any accidents, incidents, or safeguarding concerns
• Maintaining confidentiality at all times

Team & Development

• Working collaboratively with the team
• Supporting a positive, energetic environment
• Attending training and meetings where required
• Following and promoting nursery values and standards

WHAT YOUR DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE

10:30am – Arrive, settle in, prep for lunchtime
11:30am – Support children during meals
12:00pm – Encourage conversation and independence
12:30pm – Support transitions (toileting, handwashing, rest/play)
1:00pm – Supervise play or quiet activities
2:00pm – Support team handover and tidy up
2:30pm – Head home!
