Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Little Learners Assistant for a Gateshead primary school with a nursery provision, starting September. You will support learning and wellbeing through play, and provide one-to-one and small-group assistance to children.

The role emphasises developing confidence, communication and social skills, building warm relationships, and working closely with the nursery and wider school team. EYFS and safeguarding policies guide every activity.

Qualifications

• Recent experience working with nursery or early years-aged children.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years/Nursery qualification (desirable).
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
• Genuine passion for supporting young children's learning and development.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
• Ability to build warm, positive relationships with young children.

Responsibilities

• Support young children's learning, development and wellbeing through engaging activities and play
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required
• Encourage children's confidence, communication, independence and positive behaviour
• Build positive relationships with children and help create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment
• Support children as they develop their social, emotional and communication skills
• Work collaboratively with the nursery and wider school team
• Follow EYFS, safeguarding and school policies and procedures
