Job summary

Woodfield Primary School and Nursery is seeking a caring, enthusiastic EYFS Assistant to join our Early Years team, primarily based in our Nursery for 2–4 year olds. You may work across the wider EYFS provision and undertake mealtime supervision.

Under the direction of the EYFS Leader and Nursery Teacher, you will support learning, build relationships, assist in planning engaging play-based learning, contribute to observations, and support health, safety and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Has experience working with young children in an Early Years setting.
• Holds an NVQ Level 2 in Childcare (or equivalent)
• Has a good understanding of child development and the EYFS curriculum.
• Is warm, patient, caring and able to build positive relationships with children and families.
• Is flexible and enjoys working as part of a team.
• Can support both learning and pastoral needs throughout the school day.
• Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support children's learning, development and wellbeing within the Nursery environment.
• Build positive relationships with children and their families.
• Assist in planning and delivering engaging play-based learning experiences.
• Contribute to observations, assessments and record keeping.
• Support children's personal care, health, safety and emotional wellbeing.
• Lead and support small group activities and interventions.
• Promote children's independence, communication and social development.
• Support children during lunchtime, encouraging healthy eating, positive behaviour and good hygiene practices.
• Supervise children during mealtimes and outdoor play, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the EYFS provision when required.
