Job summary

PRS in the Epsom area is seeking an experienced Temporary Head Chef to lead a nursery catering team. You will prepare nutritious meals and snacks for around 50 children, including breakfast, lunch, and tea, ensuring high food safety standards.

You will be supported by a team member for basic prep, allergens documentation, stock duties and kitchen porter tasks. DBS enhanced is required, and you should be confident managing a kitchen and working independently.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS required.
• Experience in nursery/school or similar catering is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of food safety and allergens.
• Able to work independently and manage a kitchen.
• All chefs must wear long-sleeve jackets and non-slip shoes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, lunch, snacks, tea and afternoon tea for ~50 nursery children.
• Support with basic food preparation, allergen documentation, stock duties and KPI/portering tasks.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and safety standards.

TEMPORARY HEAD CHEF – NURSERY SETTING

Location: Epsom area

Pay: £14.00 per hour

Hours: 08:00 – 15:15

Contract: ASAP – 31 October 2026

We're looking for an experienced Head Chef to join a nursery catering team on a temporary basis. The role involves providing nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day for approximately 50 nursery children, including:

• Breakfast
• Lunch
• Afternoon snack
• Tea
• Afternoon tea

You'll be supported by a team member who can assist with basic food preparation, allergen documentation, stock duties and kitchen porter (KP) duties.

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS required
• Previous experience working in a nursery, school or similar catering environment would be beneficial
• Strong understanding of food safety and allergens
• Confident working independently and managing a kitchen
• All chefs must wear long-sleeve chef jackets and non-slip shoes
