Job summary

Showcase Training in Portsmouth is seeking a Nursery Apprentice to join a friendly local nursery. The role is 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a starting wage of £8 per hour and a planned increase after 12 months.

Training is provided through Early Years Practitioner Level 2 or Early Years Educator Level 3, plus Level 2 Maths/English. Applicants should be able to travel to the nursery daily, and complete all apprenticeship work as guided by the assessor.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship role with on‑the‑job training provided by Showcase Training.
• Must be able to travel to the employer daily.
• Wage starts at £8/hour with potential increase after 12 months.
• Role is 30 hours per week, Mon–Fri.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere for children.
• Provide care for children including washing, changing and feeding under supervision.
• Act as key worker for a small group and record observations and plan for them.
• Complete all Apprenticeship work as set by the Showcase Training Assessor.
• Assist with meeting personal and emotional needs of individual children.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
• Be aware of the nursery's policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to.
