An exciting opportunity has arisen at Acute Medicine of Unscheduled Care for a qualified registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our innovative, forward thinking, friendly and supportive nursing and medical teams.
We are looking for a team player wanting to help the Acute Medicine to continue with its success and contribute to its key performance measures. The role of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner Band 7 will provide improved outcomes for patients by improving the quality of their stay in hospital. They will support senior medical and trainee/ANP staff in ensuring continuity and efficiency in service delivery.
Additionally, you will be a part of the specialised 24/7 team in the Flow Navigation Centre – that aims to deliver the Right Care, Right Place model guided by the Scottish Government. To optimise case decisions and reduce unnecessary Accident & Emergency department (A&E) presentations, the FNC team will use telephone or “Near Me” technology to conduct direct patient assessment before advising the necessary course of action, including self-care advice, face to face GP review, specialist input or same day hospital assessment. The successful applicant interested in a Band 7 ANP position will hold MSc qualifications or PgDip in Advanced Practice. If the candidate is interested in Band 7 ANP post, we will expect the MSc in Advanced Practice to be completed fully or near completion. Independent Non-medical Prescribing (IP) qualification is mandatory.
In addition to the pre-requisite clinical qualifications for the particular role sought, the successful applicant must have a minimum of 5 years ANP/NP extensive clinical experience, especially within Acute Medicine and/or Primary care. We would expect the candidate to be able to demonstrate high standards of clinical care, be comfortable making sound autonomous decisions and to have excellent interpersonal skills. The role encompasses hands-on clinical nursing, night duties and is well suited to an individual who is motivated to reach their potential within an innovative and forward thinking environment. Clinical skills progression will be expected to be undertaken and training will be provided in areas such as carrying out lumbar punctures, arterial blood gas procedures, and so on. A particular interest in audit and medicines management is also essential for the role and so is the interest in service redesign and expansion.
