Your Role and What You'll Be Doing
- Liaise with Irwin Mitchell (IM) clients who have sustained serious injuries or illnesses to provide education, support, signposting, and advocacy. Manage their expectations and support the client and their family through treatment and rehabilitation, and assist solicitors in managing the client.
- Ensure smooth transition of new clients from NHS services, liaise with medical and care staff regarding discharge, and provide advice on local services and support.
- Resolve client issues by building relationships, working collaboratively with relevant bodies, and assessing individual needs. Act on referrals from case handlers/lawyers, identify client needs, and document actions.
- Serve as a link between lawyers, public bodies, agencies, charities, NHS, and DWP to facilitate effective communication and secure additional services. Provide ongoing support, signposting, and practical assistance to clients and families. Maximise clients' statutory welfare entitlements with support from our Benefits Team.
- Promote SRC services by preparing presentations for NHS Trusts, charities, and outside agencies, and facilitate training to encourage referrals.
- Follow up with clients for feedback to improve services.
You will join the Specialist Client Services team, working alongside experienced solicitors recognized for their expertise in supporting individuals affected by serious injuries and illnesses.
About You
- Experience within the UK healthcare or social care system.
- Passion for high-quality, client-centred practice.
- Clinician background with current registration (e.g., NMC, HCPC).
- Knowledge of healthcare, rehabilitation, welfare policy, and advocacy services.
- Understanding of rehabilitation codes, Mental Capacity Act, and welfare benefits.
- Awareness of external stakeholders (e.g., Headway, SIA, Aspire).
- Experience working in clinical, health/social care, or rehabilitation settings.
- Understanding of complex conditions (e.g., brain, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic injury, birth injury, industrial disease, bereavement).
- Experience across multiple settings (acute, post-acute, community).
- Experience working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team framework.
- Ability to work autonomously and independently.
- Full UK driving license and access to a car for client and stakeholder meetings.
