Job summary

AVEVA in Cambridge Science Park is seeking a Mathematical Developer to join our Unified Supply Chain (USC) team. The role focuses on numerical modelling and the development of our Assay Engine, a desktop application used for predictive modelling and data analysis in the oil, gas and refining industries.

You will maintain and improve mathematical models, tackle challenging problems, manage large work items, and mentor less experienced developers, while aligning with established team practices and

Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical background.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in numerical modelling or mathematical software development.
  • Programming ability in C/C++ or C#.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve numerical models and their codebase.
  • Investigate mathematical, algorithmic and software engineering problems through to resolution.
  • Take ownership of large or technically challenging items and break them into tasks with sound implementation decisions.
  • Work within an established (and some legacy) codebase with respect to team practices.
  • Demonstrate potential to lead technical projects.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to less experienced developers.
