Job summary

AVEVA is seeking a Mathematical Developer in Cambridge to maintain and extend numerical models within the USC Assay product, blending desktop software work with mathematical modelling in a collaborative setting.

The role requires a strong maths background, experience in numerical modelling, and programming ability in C/C++ or C#. It offers opportunities to lead technical work and mentor teammates within a professional team.

Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical background.
  • Programming ability in at least one relevant language (e.g. C/C++, C#).
  • Experience of numerical modelling or mathematical software development.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute directly to the maintenance and improvement of numerical models and their associated code.
  • Investigate mathematical, algorithmic and software engineering problems and see them through to resolution.
  • Take ownership of large or technically challenging work items, breaking them down into manageable tasks and making sound implementation decisions.
  • Work effectively within an existing, and in some areas legacy codebase, balancing respect for established team practices with thoughtful technical improvement.
  • Demonstrate the potential to lead technical projects.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and technical mentoring to less experienced developers where appropriate.

Skills

Strong mathematical background
Programming in C/C++ or C#
Numerical modelling experience

Education

Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
Postgraduate qualification (MSc/PhD) advantage
