Job summary

AVEVA is seeking a Mathematical Developer in Cambridge to work on the Unified Supply Chain (USC) team on the Assay Engine for crude oil data. You will contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of numerical models within a desktop application, delivering robust mathematical software.

The role demands a strong mathematical background and proficiency in C/C++ or C#. You will tackle challenging problems, mentor junior developers, and help drive technical projects in a hybrid on-site setting at

Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical background.
  • Programming in C/C++ or C#.
  • Experience of numerical modelling or mathematical software development.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, CS, Engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute directly to the maintenance and improvement of numerical models and their associated code.
  • Investigate mathematical, algorithmic and software engineering problems and see them through to resolution.
  • Take ownership of large or technically challenging work items, breaking them down into manageable tasks and making sound implementation decisions.
  • Work effectively within an existing, and in some areas legacy codebase, balancing respect for established team practices with thoughtful technical improvement.
  • Demonstrate the potential to lead technical projects.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and technical mentoring to less experienced developers where appropriate.
