Job summary

St Joseph’s Specialist Trust in Cranleigh, Surrey, is seeking a motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to deliver targeted numeracy interventions to pupils aged 5–19 with complex learning needs. You will work closely with the Assistant Head responsible for Mathematics, delivering structured sessions to individuals and small groups, and support learning up to Functional Skills Level 2.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mathematics or equivalent mathematical knowledge and experience.
• Qualified HLTA status, or experience and skills appropriate for an unqualified HLTA role.
• Strong mental, emotional and physical resilience is essential to work with pupils who may display challenging behaviours.
• Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and adapt learning to different abilities.
• Ability to deliver structured numeracy sessions to individuals and groups up to Functional Skills Level 2.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist numeracy interventions and targeted learning activities.
• Monitor student progress and adapt interventions to support each pupil’s potential.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure numeracy provision is accessible and engaging.
• Provide engaging sessions, adapting to a range of learning needs and abilities.
