Job summary

Assystem invites a Nuclear Safety Lead to join a hybrid role across UK sites, travelling monthly. You will be the client’s principal adviser on nuclear safety and assurance, guiding programme teams in interpreting requirements and applying proportionate controls to ensure safe, compliant project execution.

You will embed Fingleton Review principles with engineering, safety, environmental and quality leads, supporting gateways, design reviews and readiness assessments across UK sites and

Qualifications

• Nuclear engineering, safety or defence experience.
• Strong knowledge of safety functions and lifecycle risks.
• Experience reviewing safety cases and evidence.
• Credible communicator with senior and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as principal nuclear safety adviser, challenging programmes against expectations.
• Review safety strategies, submissions and supporting evidence; escalate risks.
• Define proportionate controls and assurance milestones across programmes.
• Provide input to tenders and supplier clarifications to strengthen submissions.
• Turn findings into governance papers and engagement material.
