Job summary

Assystem is seeking a Nuclear Safety Lead in a hybrid UK role. You will be the Client’s principal adviser on nuclear safety and assurance, guiding programmes, interpreting requirements and strengthening submissions ahead of Authorisee and Design Authority approvals.

Working with engineering, safety, environmental and quality leads, you will embed Fingleton Review principles through risk-informed assurance and evidence-led governance across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Significant nuclear safety knowledge and ability to challenge evidence using proportionate, risk-informed assurance.
• Credible communicator who balances safety, performance, cost and schedule with senior stakeholders.
• Experience in reviewing safety cases, commissioning evidence, quality records and management systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the principal nuclear safety adviser, challenging programmes against expectations.
• Apply proportionate, risk-informed assurance per Fingleton Review principles.
• Review safety strategies, submissions and evidence, escalating risks and uncertainties.
• Support gateways, design reviews and readiness assessments with clear recommendations.
