Job summary

AMS Nuclear Engineering Ltd., Bridgwater, seeks a Procurement Coordinator to source, order and expedite goods and services for project delivery and business operations. You will build quotations, raise purchase orders and maintain order progress from BOMs, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project requirements.

The role is hands‑on, focusing on day‑to‑day purchasing activity, with potential to grow into broader supply‑chain responsibilities as AMS Nuclear expands.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement, purchasing, supply‑chain coordination or a similarly demanding administrative role.

Responsibilities

• Review project bills of materials and purchasing requirements with project and engineering colleagues, ensuring quantities, specifications and required dates are understood.
• Identify suitable sources of supply, obtain and compare quotations, and highlight material differences in price, lead time, quality or risk.
• Prepare and raise purchase orders through the appropriate approval route, keeping procurement systems current with quotations, orders, acknowledgements and expected delivery dates.
• Expedite suppliers, monitor delivery commitments and communicate shortages, delays or incomplete documentation early, with a clear next step.
• Identify where forecast material costs exceed the available project budget and ensure this is understood before orders are released.
• Work with production colleagues and suppliers to resolve supplier‑related non‑conformances, including obtaining suitable responses, replacements and corrective actions.
• Initiate supplier approval, assessment and ongoing performance review and help identify practical opportunities to improve value, supply standard, lead times and supply resilience.
• Support strategic purchasing by analysing supplier spend and buying patterns to identify cost‑saving opportunities and establishing supplier agreements to ensure commercial value.
