Job summary

United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory (UKNNL) is seeking a Mechanical Plant Engineer to assure safe, compliant mechanical maintenance at Sellafield. You will interact with Design and Capability teams, drive asset care, and lead small infrastructure projects while maintaining rigorous safety standards.

The role requires a mechanical degree (or HND equivalent), strong communication, and capability to obtain SC clearance.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical discipline or HND equivalent.
• Experience in regulatory environments and safety critical industries.
• Ability to communicate with customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Ability to work under stringent deadlines and manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with site engineering procedures for operations and maintenance.
• Challenge mechanical maintenance processes to meet standards.
• Interface with Design on mechanical changes, review packages and procedures.
• Review equipment parameters, perform trend analysis and improve plant performance.
• Support Asset Care program through condition assessment of ageing plant.
• Lead small infrastructure improvement projects as required.
• Conduct self-audits and HSSEQ compliance tasks.
• Share best practices from other UKNNL laboratories and implement learning.
• Coach and mentor Engineering team and supervise maintenance tasks.
