Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for our Derby office to support the UK nuclear industry across Reactor Operations, Power New Build, and Decommissioning projects. You will lead design and substantiation of mechanical equipment to high safety and quality standards while collaborating with cross‑functional teams and clients.

You’ll apply your expertise to bid scoping, feasibility studies, and detailed design, ensuring time, cost and quality targets are met.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering mechanical engineering and substantiation work for complex projects.
• Experience working in the UK nuclear defence industry.
• Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and build relationships.
• Collaborative and able to manage priorities in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver design and substantiation projects across the lifecycle.
• Manage timescales, solve problems, and guide junior engineers.
