Job summary

ALTEN is seeking an HVAC Engineer to join our Bristol team supporting the Nuclear sector. You will design and deliver HVAC systems for safety-critical facilities, ensuring compliance with nuclear safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.

You will collaborate with system leads and multi-disciplinary teams to develop concept through detailed design, produce reports and calculations, and act as SME during supplier and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of systems engineering principles applied to HVAC systems.
• Experience developing HVAC designs from concept through detailed definition.
• Ability to perform trade-off studies to achieve optimal design solutions.
• Experience writing and checking HVAC technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of HVAC system design solutions for nuclear facilities.
• Produce and check technical deliverables for nuclear ventilation and air conditioning systems.
• Develop systems providing particulate abatement prior to discharge to atmosphere.
• Design air conditioning and cooling systems for temperature-controlled environments.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure system integration and performance.
• Produce HVAC design deliverables through Concept and Detailed Design phases.
• Generate technical reports, calculations, and drawings supporting system design.
• Act as an HVAC subject matter expert during supplier and stakeholder engagement.
• Present design maturity and technical solutions at design reviews.
