Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear, part of Babcock International Group, is seeking an Electrical Control and Instrumentation Technician for its Whetstone, Leicester site. The role focuses on high‑quality assembly, testing and wiring of electrical and electronic equipment used in nuclear and defence applications.

You’ll work to approved documentation, test analogue PCBs, and contribute to quality management. The position offers a secure, long‑term career with strong demand in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• HNC level study in relevant electrical/electronic modules is desirable.
• Additional assembly or wiring certifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and wire electrical and electronic units, panels and cubicles to approved instructions.
• Test analogue PCBs (hand soldered through-hole PCB technology).
• Fault investigation and repair of analogue PCBs using bench meters and oscilloscopes.
• Produce detailed fault reports with root-cause identification (with Engineering support).
• Provide local support and fault finding on Low Voltage plant and equipment.
