Job summary

EDF is seeking a Construction Manager to join the team at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, to ensure site works are planned and delivered in line with QHSE requirements and contractual obligations while building a positive client relationship.

You will lead construction teams, coordinate labour, equipment and subcontractors, maintain safety, and keep detailed site records in a highly regulated environment. The role requires delivering safe, compliant, and efficient project execution.

Qualifications

• SMSTS (Site Manager Safety Training Scheme).
• CSCS Supervisor.
• IOSH Managing Safely.
• NVQ Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision.
• City and Guilds in Engineering.
• First Aid training.

Responsibilities

• Planning, coordinating and managing construction activities to ensure safe, efficient and compliant project delivery.
• Organising and deploy labour, equipment, materials and subcontractor resources to meet programme requirements.
• Responsible for maintaining health, safety and quality standards.
• Leading and supervise construction teams, ensuring clear direction, effective performance and accountability.
• Keeping detailed records of construction site activities.
• Never instruct work to be carried out without first ensuring that means will be in place to guarantee that the work can be done in a safe and compliant manner.
• Be suitably familiar with the contents of the HSE Plan to be able to ensure that they are fully complied with, including but not limited to:- Attending any HSE training, meetings, etc. as requested.
• Attending and actively participating in coordination, planning and project meetings, including leading Toolbox Talks where required, ensuring clear direction, communication and implementation of project objectives
• Ensuring that workers have undergone sufficient HSE training to comply with the project HSE training requirements and be able to carry out all works safely.
• Ensuring that tools, equipment and materials brought into and used in the area are fully compliant with HSE requirements.
• Ensuring that no work is carried out unless supported by the relevant specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Work Permits.
• Participating in Risk Assessments.
• Conducting regular HSE inspections within the area of responsibility, promoting a positive safety culture and fostering collaborative relationships with workforce, clients, stakeholders and delivery partners.
