Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking an experienced NPI Mechanical Design Engineer for a contract in Sutton-in-Ashfield. You will design fixtures, tooling and workholding using 3D CAD, develop production-ready manufacturing processes and support DFMA reviews from prototype to release.

The role requires strong CNC understanding, GD&T knowledge and collaboration with Production, Quality and suppliers to drive quality and efficiency. Immediate start available and a competitive hourly rate DOE.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND/Degree/Apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Production Engineering
• Experience in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Engineering or NPI
• Strong 3D CAD design experience
• Experience designing fixtures, tooling or workholding for manufacturing
• Good understanding of CNC machining processes
• Ability to produce and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Understanding of GD&T, tolerances and manufacturing principles
• Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

• New Product Introduction (NPI): support the introduction of new products into manufacturing
• Review engineering drawings and CAD models to determine optimal manufacturing methods
• Develop manufacturing processes from prototype to production release
• Carry out DFMA reviews
• Identify and address manufacturing risks during development
• Support production trials and transfer of products into manufacture
• Mechanical Design & Tooling: design fixtures, jigs, tooling and workholding solutions
• Produce detailed drawings, assemblies and bills of materials
• Develop practical manufacturing solutions to improve efficiency, repeatability and quality
• Collaborate with CNC programmers and production teams to optimise processes
• Manufacturing Support & Continuous Improvement: support CNC operations and troubleshoot issues
• Work with Quality and Production to improve processes and product quality
• Assist with RCA and corrective actions
• Contribute to cost reduction and productivity improvements
