Job summary

Contek Recruitment Solutions is partnering with an established engineering business to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer in Sutton-in-Ashfield. You will produce detailed drawings and 3D models, support manufacturing and installation, and work with production and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.

The ideal candidate has proven mechanical design experience, strong CAD skills (Autodesk Inventor), and the ability to create BOMs and manufacturing drawings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role.
• Strong CAD skills, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
• Ability to create and interpret detailed engineering drawings for manufacture.
• Understanding of welding, fabrication and assembly processes.
• Experience compiling BOMs, cutting sheets and design documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and material requirements accurately.
• Experience performing engineering calculations and supporting design decisions.
• Familiarity with QA procedures and document control.
• Excellent communication across design, production, installation and management teams.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail; practical, problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed engineering drawings for bespoke and new products.
• Create and modify 3D models and drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Prepare BOMs and cutting sheets; maintain accurate records.
• Liaise with Production and Installation to ensure manufacturability and practicality.
• Carry out engineering calculations and update drawings as needed.
