Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking a New Product Development Technologist for a bakery-focused site. You will lead end-to-end NPD from concept through launch, collaborating with commercial, technical, production, and procurement teams to deliver innovative bakery products for retail, foodservice, and QSR.

The role requires a degree in Food Science or related field and hands-on NPD experience in food manufacturing, with strong knowledge of bakery ingredients and HACCP.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Bakery Technology, or a related discipline.
• Experience within NPD, Product Development, or Process Development in food manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of bakery ingredients, processes, and manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of HACCP, allergens, food safety, and food legislation.
• Passionate about food innovation with excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Able to manage multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and launch innovative bakery products from concept to market.
• Run product development projects, factory trials, and scale-up activities.
• Reformulate existing products to improve quality, cost, nutrition, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Interpret customer briefs and market trends to create commercially viable products.
• Benchmark competitor products and identify innovation opportunities.
• Ensure products meet food safety, legislative, allergen, and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with operations, quality, business development, and suppliers to deliver successful launches.
