Job summary

National Energy System Operator Limited is seeking a Strategic Planning Officer to support the North West RESP, collaborating with local authorities, networks, and stakeholders to shape regional energy strategy.

You will help design workshops, gather input, and translate complex energy topics into clear messages for diverse audiences while progressing RESP delivery and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in the energy sector and communicating with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of energy project development and the “whole energy” system (gas, electricity, heat, hydrogen, transport etc).
• Experience with Local Authorities or energy distribution companies, preferably in the North West.

Responsibilities

• Represent RESP at regional and national levels with Strategic Leads and Regional Manager.
• Engage with national and regional stakeholders to understand views and requirements for RESP deliverables.
• Design and deliver workshops and engagement activities with the RESP Board and working groups.
• Support RESP methodology implementation in the North West and contribute to its development.
• Act as subject matter expert on North West energy system interfaces with NESO and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate work packages across national/regional hub teams in a matrix structure.
• Produce clear, concise reports and slide packs with key messages tailored to audiences.
• Gather inputs from stakeholders to inform RESP prescriptions and propose changes where needed.
• Create new analysis approaches and solutions by building on existing work.
