Job summary

Belmont Recruitment is seeking an experienced Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) to join a Prison Service team in Stockton-on-Tees. This role is ideal for a Nurse or Pharmacist Prescriber supporting individuals in custody with complex health and substance misuse needs.

You will perform clinical assessments, diagnose, and prescribe in line with NICE guidelines. The role supports detoxification and opiate substitution therapy (OST) and requires collaboration with the multidisciplinary team while

We’re working with a trusted healthcare provider within the Prison Service in Stockton-on-Tees, who are seeking an experienced Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Nurse or Pharmacist Prescriber to support individuals in custody with complex health and substance misuse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical assessments, diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate treatments for patients with substance misuse and mental health issues.
• Deliver safe and effective prescribing in line with NICE and service guidelines.
• Support detoxification and opiate substitution therapy (OST) programmes.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including mental health and recovery staff.
• Contribute to clinical governance, safeguarding, and risk management within the service.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with prison and healthcare policies.

Requirements:

• Registered Nurse or Pharmacist with a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) qualification.
• Previous experience in substance misuse, offender health, or primary care.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills.
• Prison clearance (CTC or Enhanced Vetting) – must be in place or willing to obtain.
• Sound understanding of OST, detox protocols, and harm reduction.
