Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a nurse to join the Health in Justice team at HMP Altcourse, the country’s busiest remand prison. The post focuses on nurse-led clinics, medication rounds, controlled drugs, reception screening and emergency response within a MDT setting.

You will have current NMC registration in adult or mental health nursing and experience of substance misuse. The role operates on a seven-day rota with early, late and night shifts, and is subject to vetting and

• Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
• Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations and assess patients
• Carry out reception screening
• Deliver nurse-led clinics to the patient group with multi-disciplinary support
• Provide evidence-based, personalised care informed by patient feedback
• Deliver non-judgemental care
• Build strong links with partners and stakeholders
• Promote best practice, clinical supervision and continuous quality improvement, embedding shared learning
• Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care and build strong teams

Job description

This is a substance misuse nursing post in the Health in Justice team at HMP Altcourse, the country's busiest remand prison. The work centres on nurse-led clinics, medication rounds, controlled drugs dispensing, reception screening and emergency response, alongside a multi-disciplinary team. It is full time on a seven-day rota with early, late and night shifts. Qualifications

• RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse, or willingness to undertake it

Registration & licences

• NMC registration in adult or mental health nursing
