Job summary

Vodafone Limited is seeking a Specialist Engineer for the Network Operations Centre in Birmingham. The role is a permanent, full-time position with a 37.5-hour week and an on-call rotation, requiring shift work against a range of technologies.

The engineer will monitor networks, perform initial diagnostics, and resolve faults while maintaining accurate ticket records. Strong collaboration with vendors and clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in telecommunications, including network management in an operation's centre environment.
• Ability to work across SDH, PDH and optical technologies (Ericsson, Nortel, Ciena).
• Proven track record in network management and troubleshooting including incident reports.
• Experience with multiple third-party network providers and equipment vendors.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• SC clearance or ability to meet criteria.

Responsibilities

• Monitor networks and provide initial fault diagnosis and resolution in a live NOC environment.
• Acknowledge, check, and respond to customer fault reports with timely ticket updates.
• Escalate to defined time-scales and liaise with customers and third parties as needed.
• Test and liaise with customers and internal/external agencies to support SLA targets.
• Support team members and contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
