Job summary

Vodafone UK in Birmingham is seeking a shift engineer for the Technology Operations Networks Operations Centre. You will monitor networks, perform initial diagnostics, and coordinate fault resolution across SDH/PDH/Optical.

The role involves shift work, on-call duties, and cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external vendors. You’ll join a hybrid team with in-office and home-based work; 2–3 days per week in the office, at least 8 days per month in the office.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in telecommunications, with network management in an operations centre.
• Knowledge across SDH, PDH and optical technologies (Ericsson, Nortel, Ciena).
• SC clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Represent Real Time Operations in day-to-day activities.
• Monitor customer networks to identify fault occurrences.
• Acknowledge, check, and respond to fault reports.
• Perform basic initial diagnostics and fault clearance where possible.
• Ensure accurate ticket details and updates for fault reports.
• Escalate issues per defined time-scales and keep stakeholders informed.
